Fitness is one of the most popular ways of working out in the world. And for good reason. It is fun and there are so many options; there is truly some sort of fitness for everybody. Whether you are a man, woman, pro-athlete or just starting, fitness has something to offer you. As there are so many different kinds of options nowadays, it might be demotivating to find the best one for you. So today we ask the question: what kind of fitness suits you?

When watching television or Youtube, you will quickly learn that there are many ways to become fit. There are different kinds of programs and different kinds of styles. You can do CrossFit, go to a regular gym, workout at home, or opt for the extra help by hiring a personal trainer. The number of fitness programs is endless, so we won’t mention them in this article.

CrossFit

CrossFit has grown in popularity over the last couple of years. It is more of a lifestyle than just a workout for many of its practitioners. It offers a full-body workout based on working with your bodyweight and several weights, but without all the machines you will find in a regular gym.

The principle of CrossFit is based on a balanced mix of athletics, weightlifting and gymnastics. It is all about a safe way of training for any and all persons. As you will workout based on functional elements from everyday life, it will quickly increase your strength and fitness. Both on a physical level, as on a mental level.

CrossFit is for everybody who wants to gain strength and become fitter, without lifting endless weights and doing the same exercises again and again. As you are working out with a whole bunch of like-minded people, you are less likely to lose motivation. One of the strong suits of CrossFit is the Workout Of the Day (WOD), that offers a different workout each day.

There is no real downside to CrossFit, although it is clearly not for everybody. It is super active and puts your body and mind to the test. If you want to experience CrossFit, ask your local box for a trial.

Personal Training

Some people don’t like a regular gym, or just don’t know where to start or what to do. Do you recognize yourself in this?  If you do, but you do want to start working out and take care of your body, a personal trainer might be for you.

Personal trainers are fitness experts that will help you get started and keep you motivated. They will come up with a personalized training plan that suits your own unique body, fitness goals and wishes, and offers optimal results with a minimal chance of injury.

Personal training can be done in a private training studio, in a regular gym, or even at your home or office. Some personal trainers bring their own training equipment to your house, so you can train in full privacy. This is a huge benefit for many people; private training with an expert who is fully committed to your wishes and results and is only focussed on you.

It is a misconception that personal training is just for the rich and famous. Many regular people enjoy a personal trainer. Although prices are a bit higher than going to a regular gym or CrossFit box, you are sure to get maximal results. Just check out your local personal trainer and see how they can help you with your personal wishes and goals.

Regular gym

The regular gym is the mainstream option for many people. It offers a wide range of machines and gear for everybody that wants to gain strength, muscle and become fitter. Many people think about bodybuilders when they think about a gym, but this is only partly true. Yes, you might find some weight-lifting enthusiasts that look really pumped, but you will also find many people who just like to take care of their body and workout for a decent price. Every gym that we have ever trained in, had a nice mix of men, women, young and old participants.

Even though you will probably pay less compared to CrossFit or Personal training, you will have many options to workout. And although you will not have the guidance of a personal trainer, in many cases you can ask one of the trainers in a gym to help you on your way. They even may make you a nice training schedule.

One big disadvantage of a regular gym is the fact that it might get crowded. Like really crowded at certain times! This means you might have an actual line of people waiting to access a certain machine.

Home workout

Our last option is working out at home. This is becoming more and more popular with a growing range of options in workout programs and gear.

Some people create a fully equipped home gym, with all the necessary equipment to work out the way they want. Although this might set you back a lot of money, by scouring second-hand websites, you can actually build something nice on a budget. Once your home gym is done, there are no more lines to wait until you can use a machine.

Now, everything is just the way you like it, which is just perfect for many fitness enthusiasts. If you don’t want to invest in a whole home gym; no worries! Check out some equipment here. Due to all the programs and gear available online, working out at home doesn’t have to cost a lot. You might just buy a couple of resistance bands and start working out. You can buy a few weights or some other piece of training equipment and start straight away. Or you can look online and use some of the popular body weight workouts that require no gear at all yet offer a superb workout.

One of the main benefits of working out at home is that you will have full privacy and there is no threshold or excuse not to train. All you need to do is change into your training outfit and start your favourite workout music.

A big downside of training alone at your home is the fact that you are alone. You might find yourself losing motivation after a while and stopping for a bit. Now it is up to you to keep your motivation and holding yourself accountable for maintaining your schedule. You might want to invite a friend over, to train with you. This will keep you both more motivated and drive spirits high!
