Avocado and Tomato Cracker
What you’ll need: some healthy crackers, like multigram crackers, avocado and tomato. You can add salt and pepper to your liking.
Cut the avocado in pieces and place them on the crackers. Either slice the tomato, or if you have a small one put it on whole. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Hummus With Olive Oil and Pita Chips
What you’ll need: Get some low calorie pita chips, hummus and some quality olive oil.
The best and most healthy option is to make the hummus yourself, but this will take some time and effort. Alternatively you can buy some fresh hummus in your grocery shop. Put the hummus on the chips and sprinkle with the olive oil for a super tasty and healthy snack.
Yoghurt With Berries and Granola
What you’ll need: Greek yoghurt, fresh or frozen berries; the ones you like best and some granola.
One of my personal favorites. This one is healthy and leaves you full for several hours. All you need to do is put the granola in a bowl, add the plain Greek yoghurt and add the berries. This leaves for a showpiece snack, but I always mix it all together before I eat it.
Fresh Fruit and Veggies
This is a no brainer. All you need is any type of fresh fruit or veggie you like. Apples, bananas, pears, berries, peach or plums, it’s all good. You can also opt for veggies like cucumber, tomatoes or carrot. Simply wash it and enjoy. Fruit and veggies offer a wide range of good nutrients, so you can’t really go wrong with this. Don’t forget that many of the good nutrients are in – or just below – the skin. Swap your chips and chocolate cookies for a healthy snack and feel much better afterwards!
Ezekiel Bread With Banana and Peanut Butter
What you’ll need: Ezekiel bread is a super healthy which is made from sprouted grains. It is packed with nutrients and a real hype amongst foodies. You’ll also need a banana and peanut butter. Alternatively you can use almond butter.
All you need to do is take a nice slice of Ezekiel bread and toast it in a toaster. Once done, spread it with peanut / almond butter and top it off with banana slices.
Blueberry Rice Waffles
What you’ll need: rice waffles, cashew nut butter, honey and fresh (or frozen) blueberries.
Take a rice waffle and spread it with a nice layer of cashew butter. Then pour some honey on top of it and sprinkle the waffle with the blueberries. Enjoy a delicious healthy snack full of good nutrients!
Stuffed Tuna Sandwich
What you’ll need: some fresh tuna salad (or make it yourself), avocado, cucumber and bread.
Take some pieces of bread and toast them until they are nice and crispy. Then simply spread a nice thick layer of avocado on top, followed by slices of cucumber. Then drop a good amount of tuna salad on top of that and complete the sandwich with another piece of toasted bread. A great and healthy snack, that can also be used as a whole lunch.
Melon balls With Ham
What you’ll need: melon and prosciutto ham, or serrano ham.
You can make this tasty by cutting the melon in half and then use a spoon, or icecream scoop to create melon balls. Then grab some ham and use a wooden toothpick to pin it on the melon balls. The taste of salty ham and sweet melon is an incredible good combination; try it yourself!
What you’ll need: some snack tomatoes, or roma tomatoes, mozzarella, some good quality olive oil and some green pesto. Finish it off with some basil leaves.
A colorful and delicious snack, with a high dose of vitamin C to boost your health. What more can you wish for. Slice the tomatoes in half and the mozzarella in similar sized pieces. Mix them together while adding some olive oil. Top it off by spreading some pesto and basil leaves over the mix. Enjoy!
We spoke about fresh fruit and veggies earlier, which are always a great option for a healthy snack. However, dehydrated or dried fruit is also a great option! There are almost endless possibilities and many brands that offer you whatever you crave. You can also make it yourself. Dehydrated fruits are easy to keep and taste great. You can add some chocolate or sugar if you really want, but I just take them as they come. Some options are: banana, strawberry, apricots, raisins and mango.
When it comes to snacks, the possibilities are endless. The only limit is your own imagination. We hope that these 10 healthy snacks that keep you slim will help you on your way to discover what you like and how you can skip that bag of chips in the supermarket to pick up some healthy alternatives.
